Tourism in the Municipality of IndjijaThe Municipality of Indjija is situated in the Srem region, on the southern slopes of Fruska Gora Mountain. Since it is placed half way between Belgrade and Novi Sad, on the place where two important European corridors intersect: highway E-75 and the River Danube, its tourist and geographical position are very convenient.
The Municipality of Indjija covers an area of 384 km² and has multinational population of 53,000 people, who live in 11 settlements.
Indjija, as a center of one of the most prosperous municipalities in Serbia, has grown into a modern urban town. It has rich cultural life - numerous cultural events are organized throughout the year, with the accent on music festivals.
Indjija is a town of sport, a town which pays attention to the development of sport spirit and therefore it has been chosen for one of the hosts of Universiade 2009.
One of the biggest tourist values of the municipality is the River Danube, which flows through its territory in the length of 27 km. Along its bank, from Cortanovci, across Beska and Krcedin, to the place where the River Tisa flows into the Danube, beautiful sights come one after another: preserved natural surroundings, beautiful beaches, rural scenery, fish restaurants, weekend cottages, small river islands and attractive landscapes that attract lovers of river, nature, nautical, fishing and eco tourism.
In the Municipality of Indjija tourists can get to know the tradition of this area, by visiting Ethno house in Maradik or Slankamanacki Vinogradi – specific Slovakian settlement.
